AtlantaDTV.org News --- 9/28/02: The new Fall Season is underway with more hours of HDTV programming! Highlights of the new season include NBC's ER, Frasier, Ed and several of their new sitcoms and dramas. Joining The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, starting in December Late Night with Conan O'Brien will be in HDTV. CBS and ABC maintain their leadership with HDTV by broadcasting all of their primetime scripted shows in HDTV. ABC even broadcasts its shows with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround audio -- the same outstanding audio found on DVD's. As reported earlier, the WB also has a regular slate of HDTV programming this season. --- 9/27/02: ESPN and ABC announce HDTV sports! Beginning in April 2003, ESPN will begin broadcasting major sporting events (including NFL, NHL, and MLB games) in HDTV. They have committed to beginning broadcasting their flagship program, SportsCenter, in HDTV in 2004. ABC has also announced it will air the 2003 Superbowl, NBA Finals, and NHL Finals in HDTV along with other major sporting events. Beginning with the 2003-2004 NFL season, Monday Night Football will be in High-Definition. --- 8/4/02: WUPA-DT (UPN) Digital Channel 43 is on the air! Beginning in July, WUPA started transmitting a beautiful digital picture on channel 43-1. That brings the total to 8 digital stations on the air in Atlanta. Atlanta stations are ready to broadcast the increased offerings of High-Definition programming that are expected this fall, including new HDTV offerings on NBC and WB. ---
